Areti Charidemou & Associates LLC is a law firm having its’ headquarters in Limassol for more than 30 years. We are looking to fill the Head of Accounting position to oversee all aspects of the Firm’s daily accounting functions. In this position you will be responsible for the supervision of day-to-day accounting procedures and you will provide expertise on related topics to the key stakeholders. We take professionalism and integrity seriously therefore we are looking for a strong candidate to support us meet the highest standards of our services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and maintain responsibility for the financial functions of the law firm and oversee daily activities of the accounting department and all end-of-period processes;
  • Participate and/ or supervise the effective implementation of cash management, billing, collections, payroll and payments;
  • Continuously improves the performance of the Accounting Department to accurately execute daily transactions and provide support and guidance to attorneys, partners and staff;
  • Collaborate closely with the management to offer consulting in key strategic business issues;
  • Oversees relationships with auditors and other financial institutions;
  • Maintain and improve the effectiveness of internal financial control and ensure that all related activities of the team comply with the regulations and accounting principles;
  • Provide tax planning consulting to clients;
  • Trains, evaluates and develop the accounting personnel while supporting their activities;
  • Performs financial analyses, cost-benefit analysis reports, management accounts, financial statements and provides the related information to the key stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of accounting for the firm’s clients.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant;
  • 4+ years hands on work experience in a similar role and after qualification;
  • Rich experience in preparing management reports and financial statements;
  • Deep understanding of Cyprus and International tax issues;
  • The Advance Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) will be considered an advantage
  • Speak and write fluently and professionally both in Greek and English;
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with team members, partners, clients and associates;
  • Willingness to take initiative and take the extra mile to understand and handle advanced financial projects;
  • Able to multitask;
  • Maturity in handling confidential information.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the accounting of several companies under IFRS
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns, VIES and Intrastat and other issues for our clients
  • Preparation of personal tax returns for our clients
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly reports and statements for the Head of the Accounting Department
  • Perform any other accounting related tasks as required

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of relevant experience in a similar position
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Excellent understanding in accounting and book keeping matters
  • Speak and write fluently both in Greek and English
  • Maturity in handling confidential information and strong work ethic
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with clients and associates
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, with good business judgment
