We would like to bring to your attention that by virtue of the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 23/05/2014, every male who became Cypriot citizen by exception of investment has no obligation to attend the Cyprus Army, provided that he submits the necessary letter to the Minister of Defense requesting his exemption from the military service.

This letter can be submitted by the advocate of the person who became Cypriot citizen by exception of investment, on behalf of him, and should be accompanied by a copy of the Naturalisation Certificate and of the Council of Ministers’ approval letter.

The aforementioned procedure shall be followed by males who at the time of obtaining the Cyprus citizenship:

a) they are over the age of 18 – the procedure shall be followed upon obtaining the Cyprus citizenship; and
b) they are under the age of 18 – the procedure shall be followed upon reaching the age of 18.
